Aesthetics FAQs

Tox Treatments

  • What is neurotoxin?

A neurotoxin is a purified protein which temporarily blocks nerve signals to specific muscles in the body, causing them to relax. The most commonly used neurotoxin is botulinum toxin type A, which is sold under various brand names, including Dysport, Xeomin, Botox, and Daxxify.

Neurotoxin treatments are often used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles responsible for facial expressions.

  • How does neurotoxin work?

Neurotoxin works by blocking the transmission of signals from the nerves to the body's muscles. When the targeted muscles cannot contract, the skin above them becomes smoother, leading to a reduction in wrinkles. The procedure is temporary and only affects the treated muscles.

Neurotoxin can also prevent new wrinkles from forming. By relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles in the first place, it can stop deeper lines from developing over time.

  • What areas can neurotoxin treat?

Here at Lyf Aesthetics, we use neurotoxin to treat various areas of the face, including the forehead, glabellar, crow's feet, undereye, bunny lines, lip lines, gummy smile, lip flip, chin, DAO, jawline, masseters, and to treat rosacea.

Elsewhere in the body, we can treat platysmal bands, traps, and hyperhydrosis (underarms, palms, scalp).

  • Is neurotoxin treatment painful?

Most clients experience minimal discomfort during the neurotoxin injection process. The needles used are very fine and the injections themselves are quick. You may feel a small pinch or a slight sting, but the discomfort is usually brief and tolerable.

  • When will I see the results?

Results usually appear within 3-5 days after the treatment, with full effects visible in 10-14 days. The treatment works gradually, so you may notice the wrinkles softening over time.

  • How long does the effect of neurotoxin last?

The effects of neurotoxin typically last for 3-4 months. Results can vary depending on factors such as your metabolism, the area treated, the amount used, and how often you receive the treatments.

  • Is there any downtime after neurotoxin treatment?

There is generally no downtime after a neurotoxin treatment. Mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites may occur but typically resolve within a few hours to a few days. It’s important to avoid exercise, physical exertion, or excessive sweating on the day of your treatment. Additionally, keep your head elevated—don’t lower it or apply pressure to your face. Try to sleep with your head slightly elevated and avoid sleeping on your face. By the following day, you can fully resume all normal activities.

  • Do you offer touch-ups?

Yes, we offer complimentary two-week touch-ups to review your results and make any adjustments if necessary. Our pricing is based on the area treated, not the number of units used, which ensures that we achieve the desired outcome.

Dermal Fillers

  • What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments which are used to restore volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. They are made from various materials, hyaluronic acid being the most common. Fillers are generally used to plump areas that have lost volume due to aging or other factors, such as the cheeks, under the eyes, lips, and jawline.

  • How do dermal fillers work?

Dermal fillers work by adding volume to specific areas of an individual's face. Depending on the type of filler used, it either stimulates collagen production or directly plumps the skin. The most commonly used fille is hyaluronic acid. It attracts moisture to the skin, providing a natural, youthful look by restoring lost volume and smoothing out wrinkles.

  • What areas can dermal fillers treat?

Dermal fillers can treat a variety of facial areas, including temples, cheeks, undereye, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, chin, jaw, lips, and nose.

  • Does the procedure hurt?

Most dermal fillers contain lidocaine, which is a numbing agent that helps reduce discomfort during the injection process. You may feel some minor pinching or pressure, but the procedure is generally well-tolerated. Numbing creams can also be applied beforehand to enhance your comfort.

  • When will I see the results?

Results from dermal fillers are immediate, though some swelling may occur, which may slightly alter the outcome for the first 24-48 hours. Once the swelling goes down, you'll see the full effect of the filler and it will look natural and refreshed.

  • How long do dermal fillers last?

The effects of dermal fillers typically last 6-12 months, depending on the type of filler, the area treated, and individual factors such as age, lifestyle, and metabolism. Areas with more movement, such as the lips, may require touch-ups more frequently than areas with less movement, like the cheeks.

  • Is there any downtime after dermal filler treatment?

Most clients experience minimal downtime after our dermal filler injections. You may have some swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites, but these side effects usually subside in a few days. It is advised to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat (such as saunas or hot tubs) and pressure on the treated areas for 24-48 hours after the procedure.

  • How do I maintain my results?

To maintain the youthful and refreshed appearance that dermal fillers provide, treatments should be repeated periodically. They should be typically every 6-12 months, depending on the type of filler used. Maintaining a good skin care routine and protecting your skin from any sun damage can also help extend the results.

  • How much do dermal fillers cost?

At Lyf Aesthetics, we offer tailored dermal filler packages to help you achieve your desired results. Our pricing is based on the area treated, focusing on the outcome you're looking to achieve:

    • Gentle Package - $800
    • Refining Package - $1,600
    • Elite Package - $2,400

During your consultation, we will recommend the package that best aligns with your goals and the areas you wish to treat.

  • Can dermal fillers be reversed?

Yes, certain types of dermal fillers, particularly hyaluronic acid-based fillers, can be reversed using an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which dissolves the filler. If you're not satisfied with your results, your provider can discuss options for reversal.

PDO Threads

  • What are PDO threads?

PDO (polydioxanone) threads are absorbable surgical threads used in non-surgical aesthetic procedures. They can be inserted into the skin to stimulate collagen production, lift sagging skin, and enhance facial contours. PDO threads dissolve naturally in the body over time, with the effects lasting up to 12–18 months.

  • How do PDO threads work?

PDO threads work by creating a scaffold under the skin that lifts and tightens the tissue. As the threads dissolve, they stimulate collagen production, improving skin texture, tone, and elasticity. This process leads to a gradual tightening effect as well as long-term skin rejuvenation.

  • What areas can PDO threads treat?

PDO threads can be used to treat various areas of the face and neck, such as:

    • Jowls and lower face
    • Cheeks and mid-face
    • Neck (for a neck lift)
    • Eyebrows (for a brow lift)
    • Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
    • Jawline contouring
  • Does the procedure hurt?

Most of our patients experience minimal discomfort during PDO thread treatments. Local anesthesia or numbing creams are applied to the treatment areas before the treatment, so you may feel a mild sensation or pressure during the procedure. Any discomfort post-treatment is usually temporary and mild.

  • When will I see the results?

The effects of PDO threads are noticeable right after the procedure, as the threads provide an instant lift. However, the full results, including the tightening and rejuvenation from collagen stimulation, typically develop over the following 4–6 weeks while the threads dissolve and the skin continues to respond.

  • How long do PDO threads last?

The results from PDO threads typically last between 12-18 months, depending on the treatment area and the patient's skin condition. The threads themselves dissolve in about six months, but collagen stimulation continues to support skin tightening for up to a year or more.

  • Is there any downtime after PDO thread treatment?

Most patients experience minimal downtime following their PDO thread treatments. You may experience some swelling, bruising, or redness at the injection sites. However, these side effects typically resolve within a few days. We advise you to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, and pressure on the treated areas for at least 24–48 hours after the procedure.

  • How do I maintain my results?

To maintain the results of a PDO thread lift, you may need periodic touch-ups. These are typically done every 12-18 months. A good skincare routine, protecting your skin from sun damage, and avoiding smoking can also help maintain the appearance and health of your skin.

  • How much do PDO threads cost?

Lyf Aesthetics offers customized PDO thread treatments based on your specific needs. Our pricing packages are:

    • Gentle Package: $1,300
    • Refining Package: $2,500
    • Elite Package: $3,600

During your consultation, we will discuss the best package for you based on the areas you wish to treat and the results you're looking for.

  • Can PDO threads be reversed?

PDO threads are designed to dissolve naturally in the body over time, so there is no need for any reversal. However, if you are dissatisfied with the results, we can discuss alternative treatments or adjustments to achieve your desired outcome.

Biostimulators

  • What are biostimulators?

Biostimulators are injectable treatments designed to stimulate collagen production and restore volume to the skin. The most common biostimulators are Sculptra, PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin), and Radiesse. These treatments help to improve skin texture, firmness, and overall appearance by encouraging the skin’s natural regenerative processes.

  • How do biostimulators work?

Biostimulators work by stimulating collagen production deep within the skin. Each one has its own unique properties:

    • Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which gradually encourages collagen production, resulting in subtle volume restoration and skin tightening over time.
    • PRF uses your body's own platelets to promote collagen growth, resulting in natural rejuvenation and skin healing.
    • Radiesse is made from calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA), which not only provides an immediate volumizing effect but also stimulates long-term collagen production.
  • What areas can biostimulators treat?

    • Cheeks and mid-face
    • Hands (for volume restoration and rejuvenation)
    • Jawline and chin
    • Marionette lines
    • Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
    • Neck (for neck tightening)
    • Temples
  • Does the procedure hurt?

Most biostimulator treatments are tolerated well by our clients. Sculptra, PRF, and Radiesse often contain lidocaine or are combined with numbing creams to minimize discomfort. You may feel some minor discomfort or pressure during the injection, but the procedure is generally not considered painful. The numbing agents help reduce any discomfort.

  • When will I see the results?

    • Sculptra: The results develop gradually over a few weeks to months as collagen production increases. Typically, you need 2–3 sessions to achieve optimal results.
    • PRF: Results are usually visible after a few weeks, with full benefits continuing for several months as collagen grows.
    • Radiesse: Immediate results can be seen due to the volumizing effect of the product, as the collagen-building process continues over several months.
  • How long do biostimulators last?

    • Sculptra: Results can last two years or more with proper maintenance.
    • PRF: Results can last from six months to more than a year, depending on individual factors and the area treated.
    • Radiesse: Results can last 12-18 months, as the body continues to produce collagen long after the treatment.
  • Is there any downtime after biostimulator treatment?

Most patients experience minimal downtime after biostimulator treatments. You may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites. However, these side effects generally resolve within a few days. It's recommended to avoid intense physical activity, excessive heat (such as saunas), and pressure on the treated areas for 24-48 hours following your treatment.

  • How do I maintain my results?

To maintain the results of biostimulator treatments, studies show that three sessions spaced out 6-8 weeks apart are ideal for the most longevity. A good skin care routine, including sun protection, can help extend the results and keep your skin healthy.

  • How much do biostimulators cost?

We offer customized treatment packages for biostimulators. Pricing depends on the areas treated and the specific biostimulator used:

    • Sculptra: $900 per vial
    • PRF: $650 per session
    • Radiesse: $800 per syringe
  • Can biostimulator results be reversed?

Biostimulators are made to stimulate collagen production gradually over time, so they cannot be immediately reversed. If you're unsatisfied with the results, we can discuss alternative treatments or adjustments to improve the outcome.

Wellness FAQs

Weight Loss Program

  • What is the Lyf Aesthetics Wellness Program?

Our Wellness Program focuses on helping individuals manage weight loss and regulate blood sugar using Semaglutide and Tirzepatide. We offer personalized treatment plans to support your individual weight management and health goals.

  • How do Semaglutide and Tirzepatide work?

    • Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that helps the body release more insulin when your blood sugar is high, slows emptying of the stomach, and reduces appetite. This leads to better blood sugar control and weight loss.
    • Tirzepatide is a dual GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist, which works similarly to Semaglutide but adds the effects of GIP. This is a hormone that also helps regulate insulin release and improves blood sugar control. It also reduces hunger and promotes weight loss.
  • What is the process to start the program?

Before starting Semaglutide or Tirzepatide, we require bloodwork to be taken to ensure you're cleared for treatment. We can draw your initial labs in our office for $150. If you have very recent bloodwork or would prefer to use your primary care physician or insurance, you can provide us with those results, as long as they include all the tests that we require. Once cleared, we begin with a low dose and gradually increase it every month during follow-up appointments.

  • How does the treatment process work after labs?

After your bloodwork review appointment, if you are cleared to begin the treatment, we’ll start you on your first dose of Semaglutide or Tirzepatide. You’ll be given four injections to take home and self-administer on a weekly basis. Your next follow-up will be scheduled after a month, where you’ll return for your next set of doses.

For your convenience, virtual follow-ups are available and we can ship your medications directly to you.

  • How often is bloodwork required?

Bloodwork is required every six months to ensure everything is progressing well with your treatment and to check for any potential issues.

  • How much does the program cost?

    • Semaglutide costs $350 per month. We also offer a three-month package for $900 (which reduces the cost to $300/month) since patients are typically on it for a minimum of three months, depending on their weight loss goals.
    • Tirzepatide costs between $500 and $900 per month. The price varies depending on the prescribed dose.
  • How long will I need to be on Semaglutide or Tirzepatide?

Most patients are typically on Semaglutide or Tirzepatide for a minimum of three months. The duration may vary, depending on individual weight loss goals and medical advice.

  • What results can I expect?

With Semaglutide and Tirzepatide, you may experience weight loss, improved blood sugar control, and better overall health. Results can vary from person to person and regular follow-up appointments allow us to tailor your treatment for the best outcome.

  • Are there any risks or side effects?

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and stomach discomfort. Serious side effects such as pancreatitis or kidney issues are rare, but we monitor your health closely through regular bloodwork and follow-ups.

  • What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, please let us know and we’ll guide you depending on your treatment plan. Don’t double up on doses. It is best to stay consistent with your monthly follow-ups to ensure you stay on track.

  • Are there any dietary or lifestyle changes required?

While on Semaglutide or Tirzepatide, we recommend following a healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment and enhance your weight loss and overall health outcomes. You should prioritize your water intake and protein intake. We also recommend having a small meal with fiber before your injections to help prevent nausea.

  • How do I get started?

Schedule a consultation at Lyf Aesthetics for an initial assessment and bloodwork. Once you are cleared, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your goals.

  • What if I have more questions or concerns?

Call or text us at Lyf Aesthetics anytime. Our team is here to guide you through the program and provide any additional information that you may need.

    • Lipo Mino Injections: Results may be more gradual with these injections. While you may feel more energetic right away, fat loss and body composition changes are typically noticed after consistent use, combined with a healthy diet and exercise.

NAD+ Therapy

  • What is NAD+ therapy?

NAD+ therapy involves the use of transdermal patches which deliver nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+). This is a vital coenzyme essential for energy production, DNA repair, and overall cellular health. NAD+ therapy helps restore NAD+ levels in the body, which can decline with age and stress.

  • How does NAD+ therapy work?

NAD+ is crucial for converting food into energy, repairing damaged cells, and supporting metabolism. As we age or experience stress, our NAD+ levels decrease, impacting our energy levels and the body's cellular function. The NAD+ patch replenishes these levels, improving energy, mental clarity, and supporting one's overall health.

  • What are the benefits of NAD+ therapy?

The benefits of NAD+ therapy include:

    • Boosted energy levels and metabolism
    • Improved focus and mental clarity
    • Enhanced athletic performance and recovery time
    • Accelerated DNA repair and cellular health
    • Reduced inflammation and pain relief
    • Anti-aging effects and improved longevity
    • Better cognition and brain function
  • How is NAD+ therapy administered?

NAD+ therapy is delivered at Lyf Aesthetics using a transdermal patch. The patch is worn on the skin to deliver a steady release of NAD+ directly into your system. This patch allows for gradual absorption over time, supporting sustained benefits.

  • How do I use the NAD+ patch?

The recommended "loading" phase involves wearing one patch per day for three days. After that, you will wear one patch per week for the remainder of the month. After the first month, we recommended you wear 1-4 patches per month for ongoing maintenance of optimal NAD+ levels.

  • What are the benefits of using the NAD+ patch?

The benefits of the NAD+ patch include:

    • Sustained release of energy throughout the day
    • Convenience and ease of use with no need for needles or IVs
    • Promotes long-term cellular health and recovery
    • Helps with your mental clarity and improved cognitive function
    • Improves physical performance by enhancing muscle recovery and endurance
  • What should I expect during NAD+ therapy with the patch?

NAD+ therapy through the patch is generally tolerated well. You may experience a gradual improvement in your energy, focus, and overall well-being as your body absorbs the NAD+ over time. There are no needles or invasive procedures involved, making it a convenient option for many individuals.

  • How long does it take to feel the effects of NAD+ therapy with the patch?

Some of our clients notice an increase in energy and mental clarity within a few days of wearing the NAD+ patch. For long-term benefits, such as improved metabolism and anti-aging effects, consistent use over several weeks or months is recommended.

  • How often should I use the NAD+ patch?

This depends on your specific goals. During the loading phase, wear one patch daily for the first three days. After the loading phase, wear one patch weekly for the rest of the month. For ongoing maintenance, we recommend wearing 1-4 patches per month to sustain optimal NAD+ levels.

  • What are the potential side effects of NAD+ therapy with the patch?

Side effects are rare, but some individuals can experience mild irritation or redness at the site of the patch. This typically resolves when the patch is removed. If any persistent irritation or discomfort occurs, consult with your healthcare provider.

  • Who can benefit from NAD+ therapy with the patch?

Anyone looking to improve their energy, mental clarity, athletic performance, and overall cellular health can benefit from NAD+ therapy. It is especially helpful for individuals looking to combat the effects of aging, stress, or fatigue, or anybody seeking to enhance their recovery and vitality.

  • Can NAD+ therapy help with aging?

Yes, it can. NAD+ plays a critical role in supporting cellular health and slowing down the aging process. By replenishing your body's NAD+ levels, the therapy helps to repair damaged cells, improve DNA function, and support longevity. It may also reduce age-related inflammation and improve skin health.

  • Can I use the NAD+ patch in combination with other treatments?

Yes, NAD+ therapy can be combined with other wellness treatments, such as detox programs, fitness routines, and skincare regimens. However, it is always best to consult with your healthcare provider to ensure safe compatibility with other treatments.

  • Is NAD+ therapy with the patch safe?

When used as directed, NAD+ therapy is considered safe for most people. However, it is important to consult with your healthcare provider before starting the therapy, especially if you have any pre-existing conditions or are taking medication.
